Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.

In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall.

I’m sorry, guys. I’m so sorry.

…Actually, no, what am I saying? I’m totally not sorry. ;)

I know I go on about V.E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic — but honestly, it’s just that it’s the most ‘me’ book I’ve come across in YEARS AND YEARS (I don’t want to say “ever”, but… yeah). The cover(s — US and UK) and title and synopsis were revealed today and I’m pretty much incapable of choosing another book to feature in today’s WoW.

I mean, do you see that cover, above?! And look at this:

Delilah freaking Bard, ladies and gentlemen. *_*

Yes, A Gathering of Shadows comes out 10 months from now (omg, it hurt to type that). No, I do not regret featuring it today. Yes, you now have 10 months to read book 1 if you haven’t already, or I’ll… I don’t know, I’ll follow you around reading it to you, or something. Do I really need to do the whole “Londons! Magical boy in a magical coat! LADY THIEF AND ASPIRING PIRATE!!!” spiel again?

What book are YOU anxiously awaiting today?

Link me to your WoW post, I’d love to stop by! :)

  1. You should just walk around BEA and ALA with the audiobook on speaker. OBVS this post is approved by me. THERE BETTER BE SOME FLIPPING POSTERS OF THIS COVER.

  2. Okay, okay, I get it — you’re all in knots about this. You sould like me when I read Owl and the Japanese Circus at the beginning of the year. x)
I’ll try to read book one before the second one comes out. Give me a nudge every once in a while, and it might actually happen. ^^

  3. YES!! I understand why you would have A Gathering of Shadows as your WOW today! I bought the UK edition of ADSOM yesterday because I needed to preorder AGOS and I couldn’t so I had to buy something related!!
I think that’s something we need to do at BEA, recommend the book to everyone on sight!

  4. Awesome choice. I wasn’t even aware that there was going to be a book 2, thanks for putting it on my radar. Now i must move Darker Shade of Magic up on my TBR pile.

  5. I just knew you were going to feature this book for your WOW today. :) And I’m so glad because that cover really is magnificent!

I own Book #1 and am just about to start it–a Twitter friend just started it herself so I thought I would read along with her.

The cover reveal just happened for my WOW book–link below–and I’m hugely excited for it!!!

  6. The only reason to be sorry would be if you DIDN’T make A Gathering of Shadows your Waiting on Wednesday pick. I mean….it’s ADSOM….

I don’t think I will ever get over how epic those covers are.

  7. HAHAHA, you did it. Good for you! I like Angie’s idea of walking around BEA with the audiobook on speaker. If I brought you a giant boombox would you walk around with it like it’s 1987?

I mean obviously I’m insanely excited about A Gathering of Shadows! I need more Lila and Kell and Rhys. And that synopsis is so… words fail. I have so many theories and the synopsis backs up at least one of them! Well, I’m assuming it backs up one. I guess it could be something else. Oh geez… I NEED THIS BOOK NOW!!!!!

  8. I have heard of this series but yet have not started it just and I really should because every one keeps telling me I will love A Darker Shade of Magic and that Schwab is an amazing author. Great Pick! Hope you enjoys your reads!

  9. I haven’t heard of this before but it does sound exciting! Thank you for putting it under my radar, I hope you enjoy this read once it comes out – great pick <3

  10. Don’t worry your pretty little head too much about making this your WoW pick MONTHS in advance…I plan on featuring it next week LOL. Clearly we’re both pining together for this one and really, February 2016 can NOT get here fast enough for my tastes. The fact that this is a trilogy and not a multi-book series is a source of major sadness on my end. I could spend books and books with these KELL AND LILA AND RHY, exploring their world(s) and getting into all sorts of trouble and mischief ;D But yeah, I NEED THIS BOOK^^ GREAT pick!
