“I did my best to keep you from crossing paths with this world. And I shall do my best to protect you now that you have.”

Jessamin has been an outcast since she moved from her island home of Melei to the dreary country of Albion. Everything changes when she meets Finn, a gorgeous, enigmatic young lord who introduces her to the secret world of Albion’s nobility, a world that has everything Jessamin doesn’t—power, money, status…and magic. But Finn has secrets of his own, dangerous secrets that the vicious Lord Downpike will do anything to possess. Unless Jessamin, armed only with her wits and her determination, can stop him.

There are so many reasons why I am dying to read this book, but other people (including the author herself) have already said it better than me:

It’s a standalone. It’s a psuedo-historical fantasy—think Howl’s Moving Castle meets Downton Abbey meets Pride and Prejudice meets MAGIC AND KISSING YES PLEASE. Manners! Class divides! Ensorcelled birds! Me pretending like ensorcelled is a word!

Kiersten White

Illusions of Fate is an absolute delight—a magical, sparkling, dangerous world with witty repartee and a romance that will light your heart on fire. Kiersten White’s best yet.

You had me at Downton Abbey + magic. *_*

    • NOT DISTURBED AT ALL. I sort of just included those quotes above, because if I’d actually written more words, they would’ve been incoherent. DOWNTON ABBEY. MAGIC. MANNERS. WITTY REPARTEE. Words can’t even. I am so so so excited. :D

  1. This sounds good, but I’m on the fence about it. I liked the voice in PARANORMALCY (still haven’t finished the series), but I wasn’t a big fan of MIND GAMES. I don’t know if I should try another book of her if I don’t love them much… ):

    • I read a couple(?) books in the Paranormalcy series, but didn’t finish it either. Haven’t read Mind Games… but… but… DOWNTON ABBEY MEETS MAGIC! I can’t not be excited for that. ;)
