Heiress. Debutant. Murderer. A new generation of heroines has arrived.
Edinburgh, Scotland, 1844
Lady Aileana Kameron, the only daughter of the Marquess of Douglas, was destined for a life carefully planned around Edinburgh’s social events – right up until a faery killed her mother.
Now it’s the 1844 winter season and Aileana slaughters faeries in secret, in between the endless round of parties, tea and balls. Armed with modified percussion pistols and explosives, she sheds her aristocratic facade every night to go hunting. She’s determined to track down the faery who murdered her mother, and to destroy any who prey on humans in the city’s many dark alleyways.
But the balance between high society and her private war is a delicate one, and as the fae infiltrate the ballroom and Aileana’s father returns home, she has decisions to make. How much is she willing to lose – and just how far will Aileana go for revenge?
Faeries! Scotland! Steampunk! Strong heroine! Scotland! It’s like the publishing gods know exactly what I want in a book before I even know it myself, because this is a book that I need in my life. I love stories dealing with faeries/the fae that are dark and exciting. And this just sounds like a SUPER unique take on everything — I mean, a Scottish debutante who hunts faeries?! Guys, Scotland. Did I mention Scotland? I love Scotland. Like, a lot.
I’m seriously dying to read this book. I’ve read amazing reviews for it, since it’s out in the UK already, and I’m so excited that it’s coming to the US! And… well, I requested it on Edelweiss recently, and I literally just (as in, just as I’m writing this post) found out that I was approved, and I am beyond excited. I won’t be able to read it until probably March or April, though, so technically this post isn’t cheating. I’m still waiting!! And still super duper excited. ;)
What book are YOU anxiously awaiting today?
Link me to your WoW post and I’ll be sure to stop by! :)
