On Internment, the floating island in the clouds where 16-year-old Morgan Stockhour lives, getting too close to the edge can lead to madness. Even though Morgan's older brother, Lex, was a Jumper, Morgan vows never to end up like him. She tries her best not to mind that her life is orderly and boring, and if she ever wonders about the ground, and why it is forbidden, she takes solace in best friend Pen and her betrothed, Basil.

Then a murder, the first in a generation, rocks the city. With whispers swirling and fear on the wind, Morgan can no longer stop herself from investigating, especially when she meets Judas. He is the boy being blamed for the murder — betrothed to the victim — but Morgan is convinced of his innocence. Secrets lay at the heart of Internment, but nothing can prepare Morgan for what she will find — or who she will lose.

I’m sorry, I didn’t hear anything after FLOATING ISLAND IN THE CLOUDS. Oh and I guess there’s a murder mystery and something about betrothed couples and a false accusation and some possible epic loss, which all sounds super promising, but FLOATING ISLAND IN THE CLOUDS.

In all seriousness, though — I haven’t read anything by Lauren DeStefano yet, but this sounds like an awesome place to start.

  1. I didn’t hear anything past Lauren DeStefano’s Perfect Ruin! I loved her Chemical Garden series (though I have yet to pick up the last book – it makes me sad to see that series end) and will promptly have to get ahold of anything else she publishes ever. Great choice this week. You should totally try Wither. : )

  2. I had this one on my WOW last week (I think)! I’m so excited for this book. Like you, all I could think about was a floating city in the clouds! How awesome of an idea is that! I really liked Lauren’s Chemical Garden Trilogy and highly suggest you read those books at some point! Oh, and have you seen the UK cover for this? Here’s the link I LOVE IT! I think I actually like it better than the US one. Don’t get me wrong, the US one is gorgeous. But the UK one actually has the city on it!

  3. I wasn’t a huge fan of Wither, but it had a lot of potential, so I’m excited to read this book! Floating island in the clouds…you’re right – that is so awesome!
    Here is my WOW post

  4. My reaction to this was the exact same as yours. FLOATING ISLAND IN THE CLOUDS! That’s all I needed to hear. Plus, that cover is just beautiful. I haven’t read anything by DeStefano either, but I think this would be the one I’d start with as well.

  5. Yup – floating island on the clouds is all I needed to hear to know I want to read this one too, haha. :-) Great find – I’m adding it to goodreads as we speak!
I have been missing your posts lately, I hope everything is going well. :-)
