If you haven’t checked out these authors…

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish,
and features weekly top-ten lists! This week it’s…

Top Ten 2013 New-To-Me Authors

I say this every week, but… this list was hard! In all of these cases, it really surprises me that I only read their books this year (well, except for that one debut, obviously). ;) What I mean is, I feel like I’ve been a fan of these lovely people for EVER. All of these authors are definitely at the top of my auto-buy list.

I’ve decided to feature the books that got me started on each of these authors’ works, because in most instances, I actually ended up reading more than one of their books this year.

So seriously, guys, if you haven’t checked out these authors, you really need to.

What favorite new authors did you discover this year?

Let me know in the comments! And be sure to leave a link to your Top Ten post. I’d love to stop by!

  1. YES TO VICTORIA SCHWAB, RAINBOW ROWELL, AND STEPHANIE PERKINS. I haven’t read anything by them prior to this year and I’m frickin’ glad to all the people who told me to read them. They write amazing books. Forever on my favorite list!

I will try to pick up Shatter Me series again just for you. (I know you’re frowning at me for not even finishing it.) My best friend is in love with Patrick Rothfuss’s work. I want to attempt to read his books, but I’m not feeling up to it just yet. :P

  2. Stephanie Perkins and Victoria Schwab are part of my list too. And I completely understand what you mean. With most of the authors I listed it feels like I’ve known them way longer than I actually do.

The Name of The Wind and Shadow and Bone are high up on my current wishlist. I’m currently in love with high fantasy and want to buy ALL the books.

  3. Fantastic list! I adore Victoria Schwab’s books and Shannon Messenger’s middle grade series. I’ve had The Name of the Star for like 9 months now and haven’t gotten around to reading it yet — oops! Patrick Rothfuss is another one I’ve been meaning to check out; especially that particular book, The Name of the Wind. Hopefully I’ll get to read it sometime soon.

  4. I’ve had The Name of the Wind in my TBR pile for years now. I just keep moving it around the shelf. Maybe I’ll get around to it in the new year! Rainbow was definitely my favorite discovery this year!

  5. Great books & authors on your list! I really enjoy Stephanie Perkins, and Rainbow Rowell is on my list this week — she seems to be one of *the* authors of 2013! I’m still holding off on Rothfuss, just because I don’t want to get involved in yet one more series without knowing when the next book is coming. One of these days… :)
