Top Ten Books On My Fall 2013 TBR List

Gah, there are SO MANY books coming out soon that I can’t wait to read… but there are also a lot of already-released books that I’m dying to finally read, as well (my library has been good to me recently, lol). So I’m going to split my list into two lists of five: My Top Five Most Anticipated Fall New Releases, and a general “TBR” top five for this fall. ;)

—— Top Five Most Anticipated Fall New Releases ——

1. STEELHEART, 9/24 ⇒ This one is about a world where certain people end up gaining superpowers – but only the bad people – and the rest of ‘normal’ humanity has to fight to survive. Brandon Sanderson is my FAVORITE AUTHOR EVER, but he usually writes for ‘adults’. So the fact that this is a post-apocalyptic YA title is SO EXCITING. Favorite author + favorite genre = INSTA-PREORDER. I can’t wait till this arrives in my mailbox.

2. VICIOUS, 9/24 ⇒ This is not a YA title, but it’s my one of my newest favorite authors, Victoria Schwab. It sounds like an amazing ‘supervillian’ book – dark and intense. Yes please.

3. THE HOUSE OF HADES, 10/8 ⇒ I don’t even have words. Only *flails*. (PJO fans, you understand, right?) GIVE IT TO ME NOW.

4. NEVER FADE, 10/15 ⇒ I’m currently reading The Darkest Minds and omg. Loving it. NEED THE SEQUEL, STAT.

5. THESE BROKEN STARS, 12/10 ⇒ One of my most-anticipated books this year. Stranded on a deserted island planet?! This has my name written all over it.

6. DEFIANCE ⇒ I’ve heard a LOT about this book from a LOT of different sources – and I just got it and its sequel from the library, so I need to read it ASAP. Plus the cover is just so pretty.

7. THE 100 ⇒ This is apparently going to be a TV show on the CW sometime this year, so I definitely want to read the book before checking that out. From the trailer for the show, it looks like it could be really good.

8. BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA ⇒ This one just came out, but I have seriously been looking forward to this book for EVER, and I’m really excited to read it. It sounds super chilling and atmospheric.

9. THE PALADIN PROPHECY ⇒ I’ve had my eye on this one ever since I saw it in Barnes & Noble last April. But I recently stumbled on Ashley’s review of it, and was instantly convinced that I need to read this book. She described it as Harry Potter meets Percy Jackson meets some kind of secret-society/conspiracy thing. I just… that sounds SO GOOD TO ME and I need to read it ASAP.

10. SANCTUM ⇒ I requested this from my library forever ago, I think because I knew it was one of Octavia‘s favorites (and she has awesome taste). Well, the library finally relinquished its copy to me, and I am SUPER excited to read it. XD

    • OHHH MAN, you haven’t read MoA yet? I’m almost a little jealous, because THAT CLIFFHANGER. I would have been so happy to have HoH immediately after that awful ending, lol.

I think Vicious and Steelheart are two books that shouldn’t be missed by ANYONE, they both just sound so amazing. Hope you read them soon!

  1. I love the synopsis of Vicious. Supervillains is a sure way to get me interested in a book! I haven’t read anything by Victoria Schwab, but I hope she becomes a fave.

I have Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea on my TBR list! Gonna read it for October!

  2. Great list! I’ve had DEFIANCE for like a year and still haven’t read it, and BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA looks really good! I don’t usually read adult, but I think I’m going to have to make an exception for VICIOUS, and I need to jump on the Percy Jackson bandwagon. THESE BROKEN STARS is on my list too–I have a copy if you want to borrow it. Thanks for stopping by!

    • Yeah, Vicious is one of the few “adult” books that I absolutely have to read immediately. Love Victoria Schwab! You SO have to read Percy Jackson, too. They’re super quick, super fun books, and I think you would really like them.

And OMG, I would absolutely love you forever and ever if I could borrow These Broken Stars. *_* December 10th seems like an eternity to wait!!

    • I’m so glad you’ve seen it around a lot! Brandon Sanderson is my favorite, so I’m really glad that he’s branching out into YA where even more people will discover him. He’s an AWESOME storyteller.

  3. ONE WEEK UNTIL VICIOUS *does a dance*

I’m also so excited for The House of Hades, Never Fade and These Broken Stars.

I hope you love Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. I absolutely adored it.

  4. I read These Broken Stars recently and it was amazing! I also really wanted to read Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea soon. I love Gothic stories and there aren’t very many in YA Lit. I’m on the fence about reading Vicious or not but I think I might pick it up at some point just because of all the love it’s gotten!

  5. I really, really, really need to read the Heroes of Olympus books. I read The Lost Hero when it was first released a few years ago, but never continued with the series. But I’m hearing so many amazing things, that I really should make time for it. Maybe I should give the audiobooks a try.

    Anyway, Happy Autumn Reading!!

  6. Your list rocks my world. I’ve seen Steelheart pop up a couple places over the past couple of weeks. I may just have to look into that. I can’t wait to read pretty much all the others on your list, especially House of Hades!

  7. I’m reading Vicious right now, but I’m only about 20 pages in. The 100 was a big disappointment for me. I know it’s the first in a sequel, but it felt more like a commercial or a movie trailer than an actual book. I do plan to read the sequel, however. I hope you enjoy it more!

I can’t wait to read These Broken Stars. I feel like I’m going to love it.

  8. These Broken Stars and The 100 both sound interesting and I’ve been kind of eyeing them. Steelheart made my list as well, because I think I need to jump on the Brandon Sanderson bandwagon! Great list!

  9. These Broken Stars is on my list, too! I’m also excited about Never Fade! Oh and Vicious looks amazing! I’ve never read anything by Sanderson but some of my friends love him and I know I need to snap to it. Great list!
