Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and features weekly top-ten lists! This week it’s…

Top Ten Books At The Top Of My Summer TBR List

This is awfully close to last week’s topic for me, since I decided to do Top Ten To-Read Beach Reads last week… So I decided to not duplicate any books from that list on this one. A few are upcoming releases, most are out already, and some have been out for a while – ones that I really want to finally read this summer.

The two middle ones, Playing Tyler and The Weight of Souls, are books I got on NetGalley for review. The rest are ones that I’ve got waiting on my shelves (library, bought, etc). I kind of cheated with Being Henry David, though – I’m actually reading that one right now (loving it!) – but it was at the top of my Summer TBR list before I started it, so that’s why I’m still including it, lol.

Have you read any books on my list? What did you think?

Let me know in the comments, and leave a link to your Top Ten post! I’d love to stop by!

    • Yeah, the second “Of Poseidon” book came out recently I think. Been seeing lots of reviews for that, so I finally caved and grabbed the first one, lol. I decided to start The Weight of Souls today, though, and it’s pretty good so far! :)

  1. I just finished The Program not too long ago and I really enjoyed it; the subtle sad and creepy atmosphere of the book was really convincing and somehow the characters managed to be likeable while being depressed. Of Poseidon is actually pretty funny. Happy reading!

    • I’m really glad to hear that about the characters! Definitely looking forward to picking that one up soon.

      Thanks for stopping by! :)

  2. The Darkest Minds was really good. Dying for the sequel. And The Program, oh The Program! I loved loved loved that book. Finally got my review of it written to be posted tomorrow.

    • I’ve heard SUCH great things about The Darkest Minds, I can’t believe I haven’t read it yet. Reeeally looking forward to reading The Program as well, so glad to hear you loved it! Will definitely check out your review.

      Thanks for stopping by! :)

  3. I didn’t put any of these on my list since I don’t own them, but there are a few here that I definitely am curious about as well! The Program has been on my TBR list since the second I saw it. I really would love to get my hands on a copy. And The End Games is one I’ve been eying, even though the reviews having been hit or miss. Looks like you should have a good summer ;)

    • I’m definitely excited to read The Program. I picked up End Games from the library on a whim because it caught my eye on the shelf, but yeah, I’ve read mixed reviews. Excited to read it though, just to see where I fall, lol.

  4. Oo, lots of thoughts. I am reading Playing Tyler right now, and it’s a bit odd, and has no sci-fi really which makes me sad. It’s basically a contemporary about gamers and the military, though I’m excitedly reading the ending, so I guess I can read contemporary after all :D I’m waiting to hear back about The Weight of Souls, that cover is so cool! I also just finished Of Poseidon and am so excited for you to read it :D

    Here is my TTT list

    • Yeah I gathered it was less scifi and more military thriller – I’m excited to get to it though. I actually started Weight of Souls today (I’m definitely reading them in the wrong order, lol), but it’s good so far! I’m sure you’ll get approved, so I’ll be interested to hear what you think! Did you like Of Poseidon? I’ll keep an eye out for your review!

  5. I’ve heard great things about The Darkest Minds. And though it didn’t make today’s list, I AM hoping to get to Of Poseidon as part of my Mermaid Reading Challenge. Great list! :D

  6. The Program! Nikki, I loved that book! LOVED it! I hope you do too, once you get to it! :D I also need to read The Darkest Minds, especially since I got an ARC of Never Fade, lol. Insignia and Of Poseidon are also on my mental TBR list. Sigh. Why is there not more time?!

    My TTT

    • Haha, I love that you requested the ARC before you’d read the first book! Though honestly, I probably would have too, if I thought Disney-Hyperion would ever in a million years approve me, lol. They just sound so gooood.

Also, yes. Sometimes I feel like the people who most need time-travel are the bookish. We know how valuable a little extra time can be! XD

  7. You’re going super dystopian! Though I guess that could be because the lighter reads went on the beach list. Haha. NGL, I really did not like Of Poseidon, but some of my friends thought it was funny, so who knows. Most of these I’ve yet to read, and I hope they turn out awesome!

    • You guessed it – most of the lighter ones are on my beach-reads list, lol. I have no idea what I’ll think of Of Poseidon, since I’ve seen so many different reactions, but that’s one reason I’m looking forward to it!

      Thanks for stopping by, Christina!

  8. I’m very curious about The Darkest Minds, and I definitely want to read Born Wicked. I love the original cover. I have read Of Poseidon, and I didn’t love it, but I know a lot of people who did love it so I hope you do. Happy summer and reading!

  9. The Darkest Minds is one of those books that I’d like to read, but it keeps slipping my mind. I know the sequel is due soon (I believe so, anyway…), so I hope to read it before then. I’ve seen The Weight of Souls on NetGalley, and I’m tempted to request it — then I remember I already have quite a bit of galleys, so I’ll have to read it when it’s out. I hope you’re enjoying it (: Happy reading, and thanks for dropping by!

  10. The only one I’ve read on your list is Darkest Minds. It was a decent dystopian but not my favorite in the whole scheme of things… I would actually recommend waiting until the second one is out before you start it (I think they might have it on Netgalley.com now). I am super interested to see what you think of the Program! :)

  11. You selected some great books and thanks for stopping by my list earlier!!I only read The Darkest Minds and I loved it!!I really want to pick up Of Poseidon but I’m not sure if I’ll like it!!!

    Happy Reading!

  12. What a great-looking list you have in here! I really enjoyed Being Henry David, so I’m glad to hear that you’re loving it :) Proxy in on my list and I’m also kinda interested in End Games (zombies, rawr~)
I have never seen Playing Tyler before, but wow that cover!! It totally makes want to check it out, ASAP.
Happy (summer) reading! I’m sure you’re going to have a blast with these books :)

  13. I haven’t read any of these, but they all look so good! The Program and Born Wicked are two books that I think I maybe should have added to my list… oh well. I’m a mood reader anyway, so we shall see!!

Thanks for sharing your summer picks and thanks also for stopping by my blog! Happy reading!

  14. Born Wicked and The Program are on my TBR list. They look amazing.

The Darkest Minds is wonderful — I’m anxiously awaiting the sequel that’s coming out later this year! Already have it pre-ordered!
