Top Ten 2015 Reads (Plus some extras…)

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish,
and features weekly top-ten lists! This week it’s…

Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015

If I’d planned better over the past couple weeks’ TTT topics, I might have done things a little bit differently, but such is life. A lot of the authors I chose last week (top new-to-me authors) wrote books that I would have chosen for this list too, but in the interest of being able to feature MORE awesomeness, I’m going to list what would have been repeats separately, so I can start fresh for the “official” Top Ten. That doesn’t mean these books aren’t in my Top Faves this year, though! They are! So check them out:

But now, on to the official list… which is comprised of books that are out right now so go buy them (if they’re sequels or whatever, consider this my emphatic recommendation that you read the entire series so go buy all the books that are currently out okay just do it).

My Top Ten 2015 Reads

(That You Can Actually Buy Right Now*)

Anatomical SixOfCrows A Darker Shade final for Irene

*Every Move is not technically out in the US yet (shut up), but I loved the series so much I ordered it from Australia. It was worth it. You need this series.

Also, it might surprise some people who read my review of Six of Crows that it made my Top Ten, but it really stuck with me. I actually re-read it recently, and loved it even more after that, so it made this list easily. And no one is surprised to see A Darker Shade of Magic here, right? What can I say? I saved the best for last. No but really, if I had to pick one, my favorite book of 2015 would be that one. #sorrynotsorry?

Books I can’t NOT mention…

There are also three books that aren’t out yet that should have made this list if I weren’t cheating and trying to make room for some extras wait what? (And yes, Truthwitch ALSO made my “top ten new fave authors list” so sue me; and the other two are no surprise). But seriously, preorder these if you haven’t yet.

Truthwitch Calamity Bands of Mourning

What were the best books YOU read this year?

Let me know in the comments! And be sure to leave a link to your Top Ten post. I’d love to stop by!

  1. Simon Versus The Homo Sapiens Agenda and I’ll Meet You There both made my list this week. I loved them. I’m really looking forward to Six of Crows. It looks like you’ve read some amazing books this year.

  2. I’m SO excited for Calamity!!!! Firefight made my Top Ten books. It’s going to be EPICCC (pun-intended). A lot of the books on your list I haven’t read yet b/c I know I’ll be dying to read the sequel – The Winner’s Crime & A Darker Shade of Magic… It’s almost 2016 though, so maybe I’ll read them now!?? YAY! I’m definitely pushing some up on my TBR pile b/c of your list, namely Ellie Marney’s series, Six of Crows & The Song of Achilles. Thanks! Happy Holidays :)

    • Calamity is TOTALLY EPICCCCCCCC (pun completely intended, lol). ADSOM’s sequel comes out in February, and Winner’s Kiss comes out in March, so that’s not a bad wait!! I’d read those ASAP so you can jump on the sequels as soon as they’re out! ;D And you cannot go wrong with the Every series, Bardugo, or Song of Achilles. That last one will literally break your feels, but it’s so worth it. ;) Happy Holidays!

  3. ADSOM and Uprooted made my list too! I also adored The Anatomical Shape of a Heart! Such a cute story! I need to read Six of Crows, Illuminae, The Song of Achilles, and The Aeronaut’s Windlass. SO MANY BOOKS! SO LITTLE TIME! I also can’t wait for Bands of Mourning and Truthwitch! I need BoM like now!

  4. Ooh, yay! It’s the first I’ve seen THEIR FRACTURED LIGHT on a best of 2015 list, and it makes me HAPPY. I loved the way that they ended that series so, so much!

  5. Six of Crows and ADSOM made my list as well! I really loved those two books to death!
I badly want to read The Song of Achilles! The concept of a tragic romance speaks to me, and I really want to give the book a try, even if it will most probably break me!
And Winner’s Crime! Can’t wait to read that one either! Though I hate the new covers, they are horrible! Ugh!

  6. I am currently reading Truthwitch, with Shadows of Self lined up as one of my very next reads, along with Illuminae, The Rest of Us Just Live Here and Every Move…

BOTH Uprooted and ADSOM made my top picks this year too, because there was simply too much awesome there. And back when I first read DoS&B it would have made the list that year too naturally ♥

I still need to read These Broken Stars and Winner’s Curse (can you imagine?!) but I’m planning to do so asap! Fantastic picks lady! xxxx

  7. LION HEART was a bit of a disappointment for me. Buuut I really want to get UPROOTED before the end of year and get my hands on THEIR FRACTURED LIGHT. And I still need to read THE ANATOMICAL SHAPE OF A HEART, whoops.

  8. I’m really glad you loved truthwitch, I’m so excited for that, can’t wait for it to come out!

Six of crows made my list too and after talking to you about it, I’m glad that once you reread it, it has stuck with you more! :) Also, i swear I will get to some of these other ones! They’re all books I’ve been MEANING TO GET TO but ugh, TIME. Like, I haven’t read any schwab yet (!!) but I need to before her tour stop!!

  9. I’m so happy to see The Song of Achilles on your list! It’ll definitely be on mine too. It’s such an amazing book! And seeing Six of Crows on favorites-lists makes me want to read it so badly. Hope you have a great reading year in 2016 too :D
