Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2015

If I’d planned better over the past couple weeks’ TTT topics, I might have done things a little bit differently, but such is life. A lot of the authors I chose last week (top new-to-me authors) wrote books that I would have chosen for this list too, but in the interest of being able to feature MORE awesomeness, I’m going to list what would have been repeats separately, so I can start fresh for the “official” Top Ten. That doesn’t mean these books aren’t in my Top Faves this year, though! They are! So check them out:

But now, on to the official list… which is comprised of books that are out right now so go buy them (if they’re sequels or whatever, consider this my emphatic recommendation that you read the entire series so go buy all the books that are currently out okay just do it).

Top Ten New-To-Me-In-2015 Authors

Confession time: I struggled with this topic. Not because I had too many new-to-me authors to choose from, but because I feel like I didn’t read that many new-to-me authors this year to begin with. O_O But regardless, these are the top ten… which I fudged a bit (you’ll see), but OH WELL. ;)

Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR

IS IT SERIOUSLY FALL ALREADY?!?! 😱 Where did summer go?! How did this happen?! 🍂🍃 *sigh* I do adore the fall season, but time just seems to be flying by lately, and I don’t want to let it go. Anyway — bring on the falling leaves and rain and blankets and cozy fires, because if that’s not perfect reading weather, I don’t know what is.

These are the top ten books on my fall TBR! Some come out this fall, some are ARC’s… there’s a nice mix here, and I’m so excited to read all of these!

CarryOn

I cannot wait to jump into this! There hasn’t been much promo for it that I’ve seen, but whatever. My excitement is undiminished.

ShadowsOfSelf

NEW. MISTBORN. NOVEL. 😍 I still have to finish rereading Hero of Ages and Alloy of Law, and then I can jump into this as close to release as possible!

sword of summer

NEW RICK RIORDAN YOU GUYS I CAN’T EVEN DEAL WITH THIS. Also, all these top three books come out on October 6. This is INSANITY.

UntilWeMeetAgain

This is a standalone, timey-wimey, YA romance. It sounds SO good!

Winter

I think everyone is looking forward to reading this book. SO MUCH EXCITE.

Top Ten Most-Read Authors

I only have one thing to say about this Top Ten, and that is: Thank GOD for the “most-read authors” tool on Goodreads because seriously this topic would have been a nightmare without it.

Oh, and also… the total counts include novellas and re-reads, but (for the most part) the re-reads are only included for books I read after I joined Goodreads. J.K. Rowling and C.S. Lewis would be much higher up on the list if I had any idea how many times I’d re-read their books… I did give Brian Jacques the honorary #1 spot because I know for a fact that I read 90% of his Redwall books at least 3x each. (shut up)

Oh, and — when choosing book covers, I selected the first book I read of each author. ;)

Top Five Retellings I’ve Read & Five I Can’t Wait to Read

Top Five Retellings I’ve Read & Five I Can’t Wait to Read

I decided to split this TTT into two groups — five of my favorite retellings, and five I’m absolutely dying for:

Top Five Retellings I’ve Read

Cinder is one of my favorite retellings of all time — along with Scarlet and Cress, obviously. ;) This series is the perfect combination of FUN and SHIPS (OTP’s and spaceships) and FEELS EVERYWHERE.

16096824

This book is based on Tam Lin, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. LOVE IT. TO. DEATH. Full of delicious, painful FEELS, awesome characters, bantery friendships, and one sexy OTP.

16101023

This is a dystopian sci-fi retelling of The Whipping Boy, where the poor can make extra money by being Proxies, AKA, suffering the punishments that would otherwise fall on their Patrons. LOVE this book.

This Robin Hood reimagining — including its two sequels — deserves ALL THE LOVE. It is truly amazing. Scarlet is one of my top 5 female characters of all time. SO PERFECT.

A YA retelling of The Nutcracker, with romance (the punch-you-in-the-feels kind) and fairies (the terrifying kind). And it’s a standalone! Absolutely worth the read.

Top Ten Favorite Top Ten Topics!

This week marks the 5-year anniversary of Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s topic is “My Ten Favorite Top Ten Topics We’ve Ever Done In The Past 5 Years,” and even though I haven’t even been blogging that long, there are SO MANY POSTS TO SIFT THROUGH!! I love this meme, though, and there have been some amazing topics, so this was really hard to narrow down… but I did it. Here are my Top Ten favorite Top Ten topics!

Top Ten Bookish/Blogging Goals of 2014

I love looking back at these — many of them, I’ve accomplished (like not stressing the reading schedule (FINALLY) and reaching out to publishers directly), but there are many I’m also still working on (like scheduling TTT’s and WoW’s early, and making review-notes right after I finish a book… whoops).
