Top Ten Best/Worst Series Enders

Upon going through my Goodreads shelves for this Top Ten, it turns out I haven’t finished as many series as I thought I had. >_< Actually, a lot of my current favorite series are still ongoing — The Raven Cycle, Under the Never Sky (if I’d read my ARC I might be able to include this, but alas…), The Grisha trilogy, Shades of London… I could go on. Anyway, that made this Top Ten a lot harder than it needed to be, lol. But I’ve managed to come up with 10 series-enders that I either liked or didn’t – my Top Six Best Series Enders, and Top Four Worst Series Enders.

Note: All linked titles actually lead to the series page rather than the title-specific page – there are spoilers in series-ender blurbs! :O

Top Ten Books On My Fall 2013 TBR List

Gah, there are SO MANY books coming out soon that I can’t wait to read… but there are also a lot of already-released books that I’m dying to finally read, as well (my library has been good to me recently, lol). So I’m going to split my list into two lists of five: My Top Five Most Anticipated Fall New Releases, and a general “TBR” top five for this fall. ;)

On Internment, the floating island in the clouds where 16-year-old Morgan Stockhour lives, getting too close to the edge can lead to madness. Even though Morgan's older brother, Lex, was a Jumper, Morgan vows never to end up like him. She tries her best not to mind that her life is orderly and boring, and if she ever wonders about the ground, and why it is forbidden, she takes solace in best friend Pen and her betrothed, Basil.

Then a murder, the first in a generation, rocks the city. With whispers swirling and fear on the wind, Morgan can no longer stop herself from investigating, especially when she meets Judas. He is the boy being blamed for the murder — betrothed to the victim — but Morgan is convinced of his innocence. Secrets lay at the heart of Internment, but nothing can prepare Morgan for what she will find — or who she will lose.

WhyImWaiting_v2

I’m sorry, I didn’t hear anything after FLOATING ISLAND IN THE CLOUDS. Oh and I guess there’s a murder mystery and something about betrothed couples and a false accusation and some possible epic loss, which all sounds super promising, but FLOATING ISLAND IN THE CLOUDS.

In all seriousness, though — I haven’t read anything by Lauren DeStefano yet, but this sounds like an awesome place to start.

Feature & Follow Friday (#15)

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow
It’s Feature & Follow Friday! This is a weekly meme
hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
Every week, we post our answers to a weekly question,
and get to meet & follow other book bloggers!

This week’s question is…

Where is the best destination reading spot for you?
(Where do you like to go to read other than your home?)

I love reading outside, and my favorite destination reading spot used to be reading in our boat on a nearby lake… but my family recently sold our boat, so that will no longer be an option. :( Other than that, I generally like reading on our back deck – though I suppose that’s technically considered “home”… This is hard! I also like reading at the park that’s on the lake where we used to boat; I haven’t read there very often, but since we’re now boatless, I can see myself going there more often! I also like reading in the car on long drives – and that’s definitely away from home, so that totally counts, lol.

Seventeen-year-old Julien is a romantic—he loves spending his free time at the museum poring over the great works of the Impressionists. But one night, a peach falls out of a Cezanne, Degas ballerinas dance across the floor, and Julien is not hallucinating.

The art is reacting to a curse that trapped a beautiful girl, Clio, in a painting forever. Julien has a chance to free Clio and he can't help but fall in love with her. But love is a curse in its own right. And soon paintings begin to bleed and disappear. Together Julien and Clio must save the world's greatest art... at the expense of the greatest love they've ever known.

Like a master painter herself, Daisy Whitney brings inordinate talent and ingenuity to this romantic, suspenseful, and sophisticated new novel. A beautifully decorated package makes it a must-own in print.

WhyImWaiting_v2

This book sounds like it might have a Midnight in Paris / Night at the Museum sort of feel, minus the comedy plus a little more introspective. Sweet and whimsical and light. I can’t wait to read it!!

Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition

Ahhh… This is a hard one for me! I read a lot of books by authors I consider to be pretty well-known, at least within the YA world. But I guess I could make the case that every great author deserves at least a little more recognition than they’ve already gotten, right? So I’ll try to include a few lesser-known authors, but cut me some slack on the more popular ones – this is a list of authors who I think deserve ALL THE RECOGNITION. ;)
