Reviews & Promo

Thanks for your interest in There Were Books Involved!

Please check back again later. Thanks!

If you would like to contact me in order to request a review or promotional post to be featured on TWBI, feel free to email me.

I am currently open to:

  • Requests for reviews of traditionally-published titles (releasing May 2016 or later)
  • Requests for promo/tour posts for traditionally-published titles (releasing April 2016 or later)

Please note: I am not currently accepting requests for middle grade or self-published titles.

Things to keep in mind…
TWBI focuses on:
  • Speculative Fiction, most often:
    • Young Adult
    • Fantasy/Sci-Fi
    • Dystopian/Post-Apocalytpic
    • Magical Realism
  • Contemporary
    • Romance (YA only)

Note: I almost never review Middle Grade books. I review a lot of YA titles, but I also love reading/reviewing adult Sci-Fi/Fantasy, including (especially!) ones that offer a lot of YA/adult crossover appeal.

I will not review:
  • Adult Mysteries/Thrillers
  • Adult Romance
  • Nonfiction
  • Picture Books
Reviews on TWBI include:
  • Publication details (title, author, summary, etc.)
  • Cover image
  • Links to Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and The Book Depository
  • My honest opinion, including star-rating (1-5, see sidebar for details on rating system)

All reviews are cross-posted to Goodreads, and all posts are promoted through Twitter, Facebook, etc. Unless requested to do otherwise, I try to post all ARC reviews within 30 days before (or sometimes after) the release-date.

My DNF policy:

If a book (ARC or otherwise) doesn’t work for me, I do reserve the option to DNF (did-not-finish). If this is the case, I might not post a public review, or I may choose to write a DNF Q&A in lieu of a review. DNF Q&A’s do not include final ratings, just the DNF designation and a summary of reasons why the book didn’t work for me. If we have been corresponding via email, I will certainly let you know if this is the case, and whether or not I plan to write a DNF Q&A.

On replying to review/promo requests:

I usually only respond to accept a review/promo request. If I don’t respond — thank you so much for getting in touch! But the request just wasn’t the right fit for TWBI at this time.

If you’d like me to consider a book for review/promotion, please get in touch via email.

I will not accept requests for reviews/promotions via any other method of communication (like Twitter or Goodreads).

Please check back again later. Thanks!

If you entrust any personal information to me (whether an email address via a comment, or information collected in the course of a giveaway, etc), I will only disclose this information to a third party when absolutely necessary (such as sharing a giveaway winner’s mailing address with a publisher) — and I will ask for written approval before I do so.

Use of Contact Info

Feel free to get in touch with me directly via email regarding individual reviews or promo posts — but please read my request policy before doing so. Do not include my publicly-available email address in mailing lists, newsletters, or other types of mass emails that I did not specifically sign up for. Thank you.
